Le Gruyère AOC sponsors The European
Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010
Le Gruyère AOC is proudly showcasing its commitment to sport this
summer by sponsoring The European Athletics Championships
Barcelona 2010. The well known cheese of Switzerland proves with
this initiative its values of promoting health and well-being.
Le Gruyère AOC began its sponsorship of The European Athletics
Championships in 2006 in Göteborg. Following a successful campaign,
the cheese brand entered into a long-term partnership with European
Athletics in 2008.
Le Gruyère AOC is now a proud international partner at some of the
most prestigious European Athletics events, such as the Barcelona
event.
Le Gruyère AOC will bring to life its partnership through different
activities during the prestigious Barcelona event, which will be
celebrated at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in the Catalan
capital between 26 July and 1 August.
This famous cheese of Switzerland, considered the best cheese in the
world at the World Championship Cheese Contest 2010 in Madison
(Wisconsin, USA), will benefit from strong media visibility and the
association with the healthy sport of athletics. Event spectators,
media and other event guests will be able to visit the Le Gruyère AOC
stand in the market square and get the opportunity to taste the two
well-known maturity stages of its cheese: Classic and Reserve.
Le Gruyère AOC is appreciated for its delicious flavor, thanks to the
traditional artisan care that has gone into producing the cheese, over
the ages.
Philippe Bardet, Interprofession du Gruyère CEO, said “This
partnership is a fantastic chance to promote our product worldwide,
and to give to the public the opportunity to taste directly our unique
product”.
Christian Milz, European Athletics General Director, has expressed his
happiness with the partnership: “Le Gruyère AOC is a healthy, natural
product and a perfect fit for our new brand strategy to promote
health and fitness worldwide”.
LE GRUYÈRE AOC
• Le Gruyère AOC is a totally natural cheese, produced in the
Gruyère region and surrounding areas of French-speaking
Switzerland.
• Still produced today according to the finest artisan tradition,
using only top quality un-pasteurised milk from cows allowed to
graze in pasture and fed exclusively with natural forage, Le
Gruyère AOC is a hard cheese that is measured, full-bodied
and, importantly, has no holes. During maturing, the layer that
accelerates the maturing process gives the cheese a flavour
that varies from mild to strong.
• There are different types of Le Gruyère AOC: Classic, which is
matured for at least 5 months and; Reserve, which matures for
10 to 16 months. The Gruyère AOC Alpage, is only produced at
high altitude exclusively between April and October.
• Le Gruyère AOC Switzerland is totally free of additives, contains
no GMOs and is lactose free: Rich in vitamins, calcium and
mineral salts, this remarkable source of energy is nutritionally
perfect for sports lovers, children and pregnant mothers.
• In July 2001 Le Gruyère Switzerland was admitted as an AOC
product, the Swiss equivalent of Protected Denomination of
Origin, in recognition of its high quality and strong ties to the
local territory.
